We're seeking a School Leader who can lead Miaplaza's first online charter school and develop a model that can provide a high-quality online public education for students in Ohio and beyond. The School Leader will serve as the chief academic, operational, and cultural leader of a new statewide online public school opening in Fall 2026 for grades 7-11 in Ohio (expanding to grades 6 & 12 in later years). This role requires a mission-driven leader who can execute a launch plan in partnership with Miaplaza and build scalable processes that deliver strong academic outcomes in a virtual setting.

What you'll do (responsibilities):

Lead the design and implementation of school processes.
Hire, train, supervise, and continuously develop school staff.
Establish success metrics for different staff positions.
Report on academic progress, finances, enrollment, and compliance metrics to the Board.
Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and sponsor requirements.
Build a culture of constant growth, total ownership, and putting students first.

Requirements:

Current Ohio Principal License or eligibility for grades 5-12.
Current Ohio residency or willingness to relocate to Ohio.
- Candidates who live within 200 miles of Ohio and are willing to be in Ohio for up to 30% of the school year are welcome to apply.
Minimum 2 years in school leadership roles.
At least three years of experience teaching in a classroom setting, either virtually or in-person, excluding student teaching and substitute teaching.
At least one year of experience working in an online school.
Demonstrated success in hiring, training, and managing large teams dedicated to student outcomes.
Knowledge of virtual instruction, digital curriculum models, and competency-based learning.
Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and leading school or process improvement initiatives.
Strong communication and people management skills.
Growth mindset and motivated by constructive feedback.
High motivation, a proactive attitude, and a tendency to seek opportunities for continuous improvement.

What makes you stand out (nice-to-haves):

Prior experience on a school’s founding team.
Knowledge of relevant legal and policy information that impact Ohio virtual schools.
